Camera sales charts for August have had some exciting surprises. While usually Sony takes the lead, this time, it was Fujifilm that left the company behind. Canon and Nikon are not too far, as they each have secured their position in the market, showcasing that they are here and they matter. However, while the big four companies often fight it out, the most unique entry was that of Hasselblad, a company that makes luxury cameras. Here is a look at the sales chart are about.
First reported by Digital Camera-Info, Yodobashi Camera has unveiled the list of cameras that have won its list for August. The sales were reported between August 16 to August 31, and the clear winner is Fujifilm. Here is a quick look:
The newly launched Fujifilm X-E5 dominated the chart, with its XF23mm kit debuting at number one and the body-only version securing second place. Released on August 28, the X-E5 has already proven to be a strong contender, combining compact portability with premium image quality. With the XF23mmF2.8 kit lens attached, it delivers the feel of a high-end compact, which likely boosted demand for the lens kit.
- Fujifilm X-E5 XF23mm Lens Kit
- Fujifilm X-E5 Body
- Hasselblad X2D II 100C Body
- Sony a7C II Body
- Sony a7C II Zoom Lens Kit
- Fujifilm X-M5 XC15-45mm Lens Kit
- Nikon Z50 II Double Zoom Kit
- Canon EOS R5 Mark II Body
- Canon EOS R6 Mark II Body
- Canon EOS R50 Double Zoom Kit
The X-E5 is a 40MP camera with a kit lens. It came up twice in the list, proving it to be a strong contender, considering retro cameras are back in trend. Just like the X-E5, the a7C II is another small camera with a 34MP full-frame sensor. It is best for travel photographers. A zoom kit lens makes for a great addition to help people get the best shots, from wide to telephoto.
Like these devices, the Hasselblad X2D II 100C was launched on August 26, and to be in the top three is quite great. The X2D II 100C is an exciting camera, and the first medium format camera to have HDR image recording at all times.
The list includes one medium format, three full-frame, and four APS-C cameras. This is different from the other lists, where APS-C cameras have been dominant. While they are somewhat dominant here, they are now balanced by bigger sensor cameras. It also means more photographers are interested in bigger format cameras, as they can get more details.
There are three Canon cameras, two Fujifilm, one from Sony, and one Hasselblad camera. This means Canon continues to be the most sought-after device maker, followed by Fujifilm. Sony has been great, but they have not really launched any new cameras in a while that would make sense for most of us. Hasselblad has launched a new camera after a very long time, and so, people seem to be going after it, thanks to its excellent image quality and features.
It is safe to say that Fujifilm has been doing well with the choice of cameras they have launched. Canon, Nikon, and Sony have not launched new offerings, but the ones they have is quite exciting. Let’s see what the next month brings.
