Laowa Unveils Exciting Lenses at China P&E 2025


A few days ago, Venus Optics unveiled Laowa 15mm f4.5 Macro, a traditional lens for full-frame cameras. The company showcased the lens at China P&E 2025, a photography trade showcase that has excited many photographers. However, the company did not just display the 15mm, but four more lenses. Here is a quick look at the lenses and their specifications. We believe many photographers would want to get a few of them.

According to Asobinet, the details of the lenses have been made public on Chinese social media platforms. The 12mm f2.8, for instance, is a full-frame lens for Canon, Sony, Nikon, and Leica mounts.

Another full-frame lens for macro photographers, the 180mm f4.5 lens was designed using 12 elements in 9 groups. The only other detail we are aware of is the 1.5x. No other specification has yet been revealed.

Laowa FF II 8-15mm F2.8 Fisheye Zoom

According to reports, the lens offers a fisheye effect at 8mm. However, since it’s a zoom, the effect may disappear at the higher focal range. Here are the specs:

The price of each of the lenses has not yet been unveiled, but knowing Laowa, they will be reasonably priced. The fish-eye and tilt-shift lenses are of particular interest to anyone who wants to unleash their creativity. As for the performance, the 20mm f4 Zero-D Shift lens was an exceptional lens. As we said in our review, “I don’t think I can ever photograph cityscapes without this lens anymore. The perspectives it gives you are a game changer for Z-mount camera owners.” We can only expect exceptional things from these lenses. It remains to be seen how they perform in real-life situations.
