Why The Fujifilm X-E5 May Disappoint You

Spread the love

Fujifilm has some spectacular camera series. From the X100 to the X Pro, the company has various offerings for beginner, intermediate, and advanced practitioners of the medium. While photographers have been waiting to hear about the X Pro 4, there are just as many who are excited to know about the X-E5. While there has been no word on the former yet, it appears the latter has some exciting updates. Let’s have a look at them.

Fujifilm X-E5’s Launch

According to Fujifilm Rumors, the X-E5 is said to launch in June. Other than the month, the publication has not said anything else about the date. However, according to the publication, Fujifilm must think about the camera’s sales. The reason is that the X-E4 was “a failure” due to the lack of units. Thus, the company ended up discontinuing the product even before the device was shipped per the pre-orders. Due to this, secondhand models of X-E4 skyrocketed to a price that was far higher than the original price.

X-E4 back

There is hope that Fujifilm learns from its past and does not make the same mistake. The demand for the X-E5 is quite high, and considering the launch of the latest models, such as the X-M5 and the Fujifilm GFX100 RF‘s success, one believes that things have changed for the company. They are doing very well for themselves, and so, Fujifilm will certainly have a plan in place.

What Can One Expect From The Fujifilm X-E5

Although there have been no reports on what one can expect from the camera, based on the company’s past cameras, one can suggest the following:

  • A 40MP X-Trans 5 sensor
  • X-Processor 5
  • Image stabilization
  • No film simulation dial, like other models
  • Possibly, weather-sealing
  • Return of X-E3 mini front grip and thumb rest
  • AF/MF toggle
  • 4K/60p video
  • The price could be less than $1500
  • Improved autofocus and accuracy
  • May not have a two-way tilting screen, as it is a more beginner camera
  • Design could be like the X-A or X-M series

While this is what we expect the camera to be, it is possible that the device has more different features. Considering the XM5 was designed to meet the vlogging crowd, the changes to the X-E5 also have features to meet their needs. Either way, the company needs to ensure that they are creating a device that has better features for photographers, since the previous models lacked dials and other such things. Until then, let’s wait and watch.

Essentially, so far, the X-E5 (which folks might actually type into the web as the Fujifilm XE5) seems to be just a variant of the XT5 and XH2. That price, like the new Fujifilm X Half could be seen as too high. What’s the point of getting the XE5 if the price of the used XT5 is around $1,500 anyway? More importantly, why get it when you can also get used Nikon Z mount camera with all the new firmware updates for the same price and also get a full-frame sensor?
