TTArtisan may be a Chinese third-party lens maker, but they have consistently launched lenses that are really affordable while also being high quality, opening up a new avenue for many budding photographers. Essentially, they’ve helped smash the old adage that you need first-party lenses for the best image quality. This is particularly for APS-C shooters, many of whom have their needs disregarded by major companies. To make things easy for this set of users, TTArtisan has announced a new ultra-wide-angle prime, which promises great clarity and autofocus performance.

The TTArtisan 14mm is a f3.5 lens with autofocus capabilities. The lens is very sleek, is created with 5052 aviation-grade aluminum materials, and has a textured focus ring. Since it is very compact, it can be used for travel, or just put on your camera and forget about it. In fact, the lens is ideal for landscape, street, and architecture photography. With a Stepper Motor, you can also get accurate autofocus performance, which will be liked by those who photograph people.

The lens available on the TTArtisans webpage has an MRP of $129. For the price, we know it won’t feature weather sealing, and at that makes sense. This lens makes sense for beginners who want to pursue their passion, without beig bogged by budget constraints. In fact, having tested other TTArtisan lenses, we can say you should not expect a lot. Just enough to keep yourself going. For instance, the TTArtisan AF 27mm featured snappy autofocus, sharpness, and great clarity. The same goes for TTArtisan AF 32mm f2.8, which offers so much for its price point.

Fujifilm has a 14mm f2.8 offering, but it costs $899 and is far bigger than the TTArtisan version. However, for its price, you get a solid lens, which offers faster autofocus, bokeh, and a great build. The same can be said for Sony’s 14mm f1.8, but it is priced at $1,598. At the end, the choice boils down to affordability vs no compromise on the image quality. If you are still unsure, do check out reviews of the aforementioned lenses and take a call.
