10 Best-Selling Compact Cameras of September 2025

Compact cameras have gained immense traction over the years. The devices were popular in the early 2000s, and now, 25 years later, they continue to shake up the camera world. With new launches every year, it appears that the trend will not die down anytime soon. According to a new camera sales ranking, Ricoh is consistently winning hearts this time. Before purchasing your next compact camera, consider the models that everyone is eager to buy.

Per a new report by Capa Camera Web, Yodoshiba Camera has revealed the best-selling compact camera list of the month, and Rioch has managed to grab two spots with ease:

  1. Ricoh GR IV
  2. Canon PowerShot SX740 HS
  3. Sony ZV-1 II
  4. Panasonic TZ99
  5. Fujifilm X Half
  6. Sony RX1R III
  7. Ricoh GR IIIx
  8. Kodak Pixpro C1
  9. Fujifilm X100VI
  10. Leica D-Lux 8

From the list, there are three APS-C cameras, one full frame, and one 4/3. The remaining options are 1-inch sensors, which feature super-zoom lenses or are budget models priced under $500. For instance, Canon SX740, Panasonic TZ99, Kodak C1. However, it is surprising to see that 2025 launches, such as the X-half and the Sony RX1R III, have not yet reached the top of the list.

The Ricoh GR IV, although highly anticipated, received mixed reviews. And so, it is quite surprising to see the name at the top, even if the listing is limited to Japan. The GR IV features a 25.7MP sensor and several additional features. But other than that, it does not really seem like a major upgrade from the GR III. As we said in our review of the device: “In 2025, it’s costly to make a mediocre camera. And here’s the thing, I know that Ricoh fans will say that I don’t understand this camera. But if they only understood how many good cameras are already out there, then you’d realize that you don’t need this thing.”

What we have noticed is that most compact cameras have been launched in the last two years, but the Canon SX740 HS is the only device that is over 5 years old. One of the reasons the camera ranks in the top three is its 4K video recording option, competitive price, and long zoom lens. Similarly, the Sony ZV-11 also features hybrid capabilities, which are particularly appealing to young users due to the growing demand for video content.

The list highlights the growing demand for larger sensor compacts, as many photographers seek a replacement for their smartphones. Manufacturers are attempting to meet this demand, but they haven’t been entirely successful yet. When they do, we may see more success.
