Since President Donald Trump announced tariffs and trade wars, the world has been engulfed in chaos. The stocks of major firms had fallen, with people selling as much as they could. However, since Trump put a 90-day pause on the trade wars, things have been a bit better, although rocky. Photographers are finding it challenging to purchase a brand new camera, with some relying on older second-hand models. There are some, on the other hand, who are looking to purchase a few specific camera models. If you are also planning to buy a new camera, maybe these four cameras can be on your list of choices.
Per the Google Trends search over the past 7 days, the most popular choice in America seems to be the Canon R50, with the Sony 6700 coming in second place. The third place was claimed by the Fujifilm X-T30 II, followed by the Nikon D7500, and last but not least, the Panasonic S9. A similar trend is also seen across the world.
Nikon D7500
What makes the D7500 a choice for photographers in 2025 is its 20MP CMOS sensor taken from D500. This means it can capture 4K video at up to 30fps, while the ISO can reach up to 1,640,000. It also shares a 51-point AF system, taken from D7200. One of the only DSLR cameras in this list, it offers 8fps shooting speed, a 3.2-inch 922K-dot touchscreen LCD, and much-improved weather sealing. This is a perfect entry-level camera for anyone who wants a great build and grip, a good battery life, a touchscreen LCD, WiFi, and good image quality with great dynamic range. Plus, it is cheaper than the D500.
Canon EOS R50
A lot has already been said about Canon’s best APS-C cameras from 2023. Just last year, this 24MP camera became one of the most sold devices, as it offers various features at reasonable rates. The camera can record 4K videos at 30fps, has a burst rate of up to 15 fps (Silent Electronic Shutter), and comes with an in-built flash. There is also a 2.36M-dot OLED viewfinder, a 1.62M-dot fully articulating touchscreen, and 10-bit HDR video and HEIF images. As we said in our review: “The Canon EOS R50 has an intelligent, quick autofocus system that’s going to give new photographers a leg up. Mixed in with the simplified controls, easy auto mode, flipping touchscreen, and $680 price point, it’s an attractive option for beginners.”
Sony a6700
Sony has made many wonderful cameras, but its APS-C models are still what many photographers want. The a6700 is one such model, launched in 2023, with a 26MP APS-C BSI sensor. It offers a BIONZ XR processor, a dedicated AI processor, a 759-point AF system with phase detection, and a weather-resistant body. This is also perfect for hybrid shooters, as it offers 4K up to 60p from 6K capture and 4K/120fps with a crop factor. While the product is not exactly innovative, it is an ideal choice for anyone picking up a camera for the first time.
Fujifilm X-T30 II
The X-T30 II is an update of the X-T30, which was a smaller version of the X-T3. The X-T30 II houses a 26MP X-Trans sensor, with X–Processor 4 Quad Core-CPU. It also offered 425 autofocus points like its older brother, a 3-inch 1.62M-dot tilting LCD, and a 2.36M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder. The camera can also capture DCI and UHD 4K video and 1080p footage up to 240fps. Since we haven’t tested the X-T30 II, we can’t recommend you to buy it.
Panasonic S9
It is one of the only full-frame cameras on the list, which is why we are a bit shocked. The S9 houses a 24MP sensor, a PDAF real-time tracking, up to 6.5fps of image stabilization, and Real-Time LUT. The camera won us over thanks to the innovative, dedicated LUT button and its rangefinder style. This is perfect for street photographers; its performance is similar to that of the Panasonic Lumix S5 II, and its high ISO output is wonderful. But considering its price point, photographers who want more control over their images would certainly go for it. But the lack of weather resistance makes it a challenge for some.
Each of these cameras is unique in its own way. Some offer great hybrid features, while some are better off only for photographers. However, each of the cameras is under $1500, which is pretty much what many entry-level or serious enthusiasts want to spend right now.
