If your computer is slow when you work with large media files, the Crucial T705 SSD might boost its performance. This new exceptional NVMe SSD from Crucial is gaining a lot of attention for its speed—it’s speedy. The speeds it offers would have seemed unbelievable just a few years back.
See if it’s the upgrade you’re looking for or simply too much for your needs (and yes, there’s a version with RGB lights, too).
PCIe 5.0 Power—Crucial T705 SSD Goes Full Throttle
Crucial says that the T705 can reach read speeds of up to 14,500MB/s and write speeds of 12,700MB/s. That’s on par with PCIe Gen 5, which is impressive. However, there’s a catch: if your motherboard and CPU don’t support PCIe 5.0, you won’t be able to achieve those speeds. The drive will still work with older systems since it’s backward compatible, but don’t expect it to perform at top levels.
This SSD can boost your performance if your PC uses the latest hardware, like an Intel 13th or 14th generation processor or an AMD Ryzen 7000 series chip. Booting up? It’s almost instant. Transferring files? It’s so fast you might miss it.

Storage That Lasts
Durability is another crucial aspect of this device. According to Crucial, the 2TB model of the T705 can handle 1,200 terabytes written (TBW). That’s a massive amount of data! You likely won’t reach that limit unless you work on Hollywood films daily. Plus, it has a mean time to fail of 1.5 million hours, so you’ll probably upgrade your computer before this drive stops working.
3D TLC NAND & Heatsink Choices
Inside, Crucial relies on Micron’s 232-layer 3D TLC NAND, which is both reliable and highly efficient. If you pay close attention to temperature management (like me!), you’ll be excited to know there’s a T705 model with a large heatsink and even one with RGB lighting if you want your storage to have a flashy look.

Pricing and Availability
The 2TB Crucial T705 SSD is available at $230 with Instant Savings of $70.00 from its original price of $300. You can also get the 4TB version for $390, and 1TB for $143.
I think the RGB version seems a bit unnecessary unless you care a lot about appearance, but everyone has their own preferences. At least it’s available as a choice.
I would say the Crucial T705 is an impressive piece of technology. It is suitable for creating content or simply enjoying fast gadgets. But if your system doesn’t support PCIe 5.0, you won’t fully benefit from this drive. You might be better off saving money and choosing a reliable Gen 4 drive.
Otherwise, this drive is worth a look if your setup is compatible and you want high-speed performance without venturing into enterprise-level SSDs.
The Crucial T705 SSD isn’t for everyone. So if you’re putting together a high-performance system, it can be a fantastic upgrade that won’t disappoint you. Just ensure that the rest of your PC can handle it.
