Here is what we know so far

At the North-East Astronomy Forum (NEAF) 2025, ZWO unveiled the Seestar S30 Pro, an advanced iteration of their acclaimed Seestar S30 smart telescope. This new model is designed to make astrophotography more accessible and enjoyable for both beginners and seasoned astronomers. Although this product is yet to be available for order (or pre-order) and there is no listing on the official website, we have gathered information about the product from various sources.

The “Pro” Model

It looks like Seestar is going to launch their new generation of smart telescopes under the series “Pro”. Although only the Seestar S30 Pro has been unveiled so far, we can assume that the Seestar S50 is also going to follow with a newer generation model. The Seestar S30 was launched in November 2024 as a budget-friendly smart telescope option and received a major software update in March 2025.

Here are some of the key specifications of the new smart telescope model:

Major upgrades

While the Seestar S30 is still a new product in the market, Seestar’s decision to create (and showcase) an upgraded version might seem surprising to many. It seems that the smart telescope has received upgraded hardware in many departments.

• Quadruplet lens: The S30 Pro will boast an apochromatic quadruplet lens, an upgrade over the S30’s triplet lens. This will ensure a sharper and detailed image with minimal chromatic aberration.
• New sensor: The S30’s original IMX 662 is going to be replaced by a larger IMX 585 sensor. Although the pixel pitch remains the same, this will provide higher digital zoom capabilities.
• Storage: With the addition of a newer and higher resolution camera, an upgrade in the storage capability is a logical step. The S30 Pro will have a 256GB storage space, a definite upgrade over the previous 64 GB.
• Milky Way Photography capabilities: The Seestar S30 Pro is being advertised with the capability to shoot wide-field Milky Way images. However, there is little to no information out there on what exactly that means.

Release date and price

Although Seestar has no official announcement on the release date of their Seestar S30 Pro, we can expect to see the new product available for pre-order sometime in 2025 Q2-Q3. Again, there are no official words on the price of the product, but it is going to be a little more expensive than the S30’s original price tag of USD 399.
