Nikon and Fujifilm have launched some great cameras and lenses over the years. From the Nikon Zf to the Fujifilm GFX series, each company has a different offering for people. However, it seems that both Nikon and Fujifilm are taking a different direction now, with both companies reportedly discontinuing three lenses and a camera together. Which model is it? Find out more here.

Fujifilm Discontinues Two Lenses Overseas

According to Fujifilm Rumors and Asobinet, Fujifilm has reportedly discontinued the Fujifilm XF 16 mm F2.8 R WR Silver and Fujifilm XC 50-230mm f4.5-6.7 OIS II Silver. This has so far been seen in a few Japanese camera stores, where “discontinued” is written on the product page. Here are some examples.

In addition, Fujifilm Rumor further states that XF 23mm f2 R WR silver and XF 50mm f2 R WR silver will also be discontinued soon. The report does not state why these models are being discontinued, so one could guess that maybe newer silver editions will be launched soon. Or, maybe the demand for the lenses was not as much, since they were launched between 2016 to 2019.

If you are keen on buying them, then you should hurry. In the United States, the Fujifilm 16mm and 50-230mm are available on Adorama and Amazon. However, we do not know when these models could go out of stock. Either way, it is also better to buy them before tariff prices hit the roof.

Nikon Discontinues DSLR Camera and Lens

In another report by Asobinet, Nikon has discontinued its full-frame DSLR, the D6, and the AF-S Nikkor 35mm f1.4G. The camera show the tag in Japan’s Map Camera and Kitamura Camera stores. The Nikon D6 was launched in 2020, and was one of the last DSLRs by the company, before they deep dived into mirrorless cameras.

There were some hopes that a new full-frame DSLR could launch, but with this, it is evident that Nikon is really focused on improving its mirrorless lineup. All that remains are the D850, D780, and D7500 models, which may or may not have successors in the future. In addition, the AF-S 35mm f1.4 is also the first lens in the series to be discontinued, while there is no report of the same on the 50mm version. Perhaps, the latter would also face a similar future.

The Nikon D6 and AF-S 35mm are still available on Amazon, but they are limited in stock. So, if you are looking to buy, then this would be a good time to invest. Discontinuation of a product is due to varied factors, and in this case, the camera and lenses are certainly old. Had the demand for new DSLRs exceeded the company’s expectations, then we may have seen a rather different result. Furthermore, even if the new models run out of stock, you can always find a second-hand model on eBay or Amazon.
