Paris glows in infrared hues

If you’ve ever been interested in infrared photography and also wonder about how the effect would translate into moving pictures, today’s featured video is right up your alley. Our favorite weird lens enthusiast Mathieu Stern recently shared a short film showing Paris glowing in gorgeous infrared hues. Take a look!

In his quick video, Stern takes as around his hometown—as he always does with his weird lens experiments—as if encouraging us to imagine life in a dreamy version of the French capital. In this alternate universe, the color palette is limited to muted tones, save for the fiery red foliage that infrared color photography is known for.

While Stern didn’t mention what camera and lens he used for the footage, it’s likely that he used the same modified Sony digital camera and Kolari Vision filters that he used in his infrared shoot at ZooParc de Beauval. He also added a film scratch effect in the footage, giving it a nostalgic touch.

Since we’re already on the topic, why not also check out these tips, tricks and inspiration for infrared photography, whether the colorful or the monochrome kind?

So, what do you think? Did Mathieu Stern inspire you to experiment with infrared for your video projects? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
