What is the L-Mount Alliance?
If you’re not familiar with it, the L-Mount Alliance is a collaboration that started back in 2018 between Leica, Sigma, and Panasonic. It establishes a common lens mount standard. This means different brands can work together without needing adapters. Hence, you can combine cameras and lenses from various brands in the alliance, creating your own perfect combo!
Sirui’s First Contribution: The Aurora 85mm f/1.4 Lens
Sirui has launched its first lens for the L-Mount, which is the Aurora 85mm f/1.4 autofocus lens. This portrait lens for full-frame cameras is popular because it weighs just 504 grams and is priced at a reasonable $499. It was perviously offered for Nikon Z, Sony E, and Fujifilm X mounts. Now, it is being introduced for the L-Mount. This way you’ll have a budget-friendly but high-quality choice.
Are you an L-Mount shooter? If yes, then you’ll have access to a wider variety of lenses at some really attractive prices. Because, Sirui has joined the alliance! It seems to provide good-quality lenses at affordable prices. Therefore, it makes a bit easy for you to grow your gear collection.
“The L-Mount Alliance stands for openness, innovation, and the highest quality in photography. By welcoming Sirui as a new member, we are not only expanding our network with another strong partner but also reinforcing our commitment to diversity and fresh impulses within the ecosystem. Sirui brings new perspectives and expertise to the Alliance, enriching the L-Mount system with forward-thinking approaches. Together, we aim to provide photographers and filmmakers with an even more comprehensive and flexible system that meets the highest standards,” Valentino Di Leonardo, managing Technology & Licensing at Leica Camera AG, shared his excitement about Sirui joining the team.
More Lenses on the Horizon
Sirui has hinted to release additional autofocus lenses for the L-Mount, expected to launch by the end of 2025. They haven’t shared much information yet, so we don’t know about the focal lengths or intended uses. However, if they come through, it might provide more choices for L-Mount users, possibly including some quick prime lenses, flexible zooms, or even something surprising. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
