The year 2015 saw the launch of some really exciting cameras. Sony introduced a second series of mirrorless cameras, Nikon introduced the Nikon D7200, and Canon launched the G3X. While there have been multiple entries, from compact cameras to mirrorless, there are only 3 models that stand out due to their performance and size. Here is a quick look at them and why they are so popular even today.
Olympus OMD EM5 Mk II
The Olympus OMD EM5 Mk II is a spectacular camera designed for wildlife photographers. It features a 16MP Four Thirds sensor, can shoot 12-bit RAW, and has 5-axis image stabilization. The device also has a 1037k-dot LCD, 10fps burst rate, 81 AF points, an ISO up to 25,600, and ±3 EV AF sensitivity. The camera excels at excellent build, great autofocus, and quieter shutter. The image quality is just as great, the JPEGs are colorful, the RAW file versatility is great, and the high ISO quality is crisp and detailed. As we said in our review, “Is it a nice camera? It’s a great camera, but there are many other great options out there. It’s at a nice price point and pretty much outperforms anything else in this specific market category due to the lens selection, but we’re not sure that the camera is strong enough to stand on its own without said lenses.”
Fujifilm X-T10

The Fujifilm X-T10 borrows many features from the X-T1. It has a 16MP APS-C sensor, EXR processor II, and a 2,360k-dot EVF. The device also has a 920k-dot tilting LCD, can record full HD videos, and has 77 AF points. There is also a burst rate of 8fps, ISO 51,200, and a built-in pop-up flash. The camera excels at image quality, especially in the APS-C range. The detailed recovery of the photos is also great, and shadows can also be recovered well. The ergonomics is great, and the battery life is also good. As we said in our review, “The Fujifilm X-T10 really deserves it. By far, this is the best APS-C sensor of any camera in a comparable realm and it shows with the image quality. Fujifilm took a great deal from its award-winning X-T1 and put it in a smaller package for a consumer that can’t reach for fruit as high. The result: a really kick ass camera.”
Sony A7r Mk II
The Sony a7R Mk II is the second camera in the 7R series. It features a 42MP sensor, BIONZ X processor, and 5-axis stabilisation. The camera also has 399 AF points, a burst rate of 5fps, and 4K video recording. The device has a 2.36M-dot XGA OLED EVF, 1,228.8k-dot LCD, and ISO up to 102,400. The camera has the best image quality, good high ISO, and great RAW file versatility. The camera feels great in the hand, has fast autofocus, a better battery, and can record 4K videos. As we noted in our review, “With that said, the Sony A7r MK II is the closest thing there is to the best camera on the market for those who need it. It may be overkill for many, but for those that need it you’ll be very happy with your purchase.”
