These New Wireless Audio Options Are ‘Shure’ to Amplify Your Creativity

Shure has just unveiled two new additions to its professional audio lineup: the MoveMic 88+ Wireless Stereo Microphone and the SLX-D Portable Digital Wireless Systems. Both are designed to give videographers, filmmakers, and content creators more flexibility in capturing high-quality audio.

The MoveMic 88+ is a great option for creators who need wireless stereo recording with flexible polar patterns, while the SLX-D Portables cater to professionals needing reliable wireless audio for broadcast and film. Both highlight Shure’s focus on versatility and high-quality sound. DIYP checked out the new products at the Shure booth at NAB 2025.

MoveMic 88+ Wireless Stereo Microphone

Shure MoveMic 88+ Wireless Stereo Microphone

First up is the MoveMic 88+, a wireless stereo microphone that connects directly to a mobile phone, with no receiver required. It’s part of Shure’s growing MoveMic family, and if you’re already familiar with the MV88 or MV88+ Video Kit, this one builds on those features.

MoveMic 88+

This mic really stands out because of the four selectable polar patterns (stereo, cardioid, bi-directional, and raw mid-side) in one mic. That kind of flexibility is rare in this form factor, especially in a wireless setup that’s this portable. It’s clearly been built with creators in mind: vloggers, field recorders, live streamers, and indie filmmakers.

Shure MoveMic 88+

You can mount the 88+ on a mic stand, tripod, or even just hold it in your hand. It connects wirelessly via Shure’s MOTIV app, or through the optional MoveMic Receiver if you need to integrate it with a camera or third-party app using USB-C or 3.5mm.

Quick Tech Specs:

  • Connection: Wireless direct-to-phone or via optional receiver
  • Polar Patterns: Stereo, cardioid, bi-directional, raw mid-side
  • Battery Life: 8 hours per charge via USB-C
  • Range: Up to 100 feet
  • Monitoring: Built-in headphone output
  • App Integration: Shure MOTIV Video App for live streaming, recording, and mic control

Filmmaker Emiliano Ruprah tested the mic on a shoot in the Calakmul jungle, capturing audio at a distance without disturbing wildlife. It’s a solid example of what this mic is capable of, clear stereo audio captured far from the camera and crew.

Shure MoveMic 88+

At NAB 2025, the mic is described as being “very, very versatile” and one of the only options on the market that can wirelessly deliver stereo condenser audio straight to a phone with this kind of polar pattern control.

If you’re familiar with mid-side setups, you’ll appreciate that the 88+ handles everything but the decoding. No more taping two mics together and sorting it all out in post. Just record the raw signal and decode it in the app or your editor later.

SLX-D Portable Digital Wireless Systems

SLX-D Portable Digital Wireless Systems

Shure’s SLX-D line expands with two new portable units aimed squarely at electronic newsgathering (ENG), broadcast, and film crews: the SLXD3 Plug-On Transmitter and SLXD5 Portable Receiver.

These are rugged, battery-friendly additions that deliver the same reliable UHF RF performance and 24-bit digital audio you’d expect from SLX-D, but now in smaller, more portable, location-friendly form factors.

Key Features

SLXD5 Portable Receiver:

  • Mounts on-camera or sits in an audio bag
  • Uses IR sync for fast pairing with transmitters
  • Features “Multi-Mic Mode” for monitoring multiple sources
  • OLED screen for RF/audio/battery monitoring
  • Up to 330 feet of range
  • USB-C and AA battery power options

SLXD3 Plug-On Transmitter:

  • Converts any XLR mic (dynamic or condenser) into a wireless mic
  • Provides phantom power
  • Ideal for boom mics or turning handhelds like the SM58 into wireless interview tools
  • OLED screen and USB-C charging supported

These units are made for users who need reliable audio in the field without messing with finicky setups. Frequency scanning and syncing take seconds, and Shure’s spectral efficiency helps keep things clean in crowded RF environments.

Price and Availability

Both devices are available to buy now. The SLXD5 Receiver costs $379, and the SLXD3 Plug-On Transmitter is $349.
