The Canon R6 Mark III is one of the highly anticipated cameras of the year. One of the reasons is that the company hasn’t announced a full-frame camera in 2025, and the second one is that the device will mark a return three years later. With both being critical points, reports suggest that the company is likely to mark its return with the R6 Mk III. What all can you expect? Have a look here.
Accoridng to Canon Rumors, the company will be announcing a new camera on November 6, which is most likely the R6 Mk III. However, this is not the only gear to be announced. Rather, Canon will also introduce the highly anticipated RF 45mm f1.2 STM. In fact, November has been Canon’s month, and as a result, three additional lunches are expected later in the coming month.
The publication notes that there are two non-disclosure agreements, which will expire on November 16 and November 26. This means that two more products will be introduced around that time. However, at the moment, there are no details about them. Aside from a few hints that it could be newer editions for PowerShot cameras, ImagePROGRAF printers, or SELPHY devices.
In fact, another reason why it could be the R6 Mk III is a photograph released on Canon Rumors.
Some of the notable features mentioned by the publication include an EVF bump, a larger eyecup, black lugs, and a blue icon near the M-FN buttons. Although the image is out of focus, it is difficult to determine if it is indeed the R6 III.
Like the image, there are a few key features that have been revealed:
- Sensor: 34.2MP / 32MP (same as Cinema EOS C50)
- Autofocus: Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with multiple subject detections
- In-body Image Stabilization (IBIS): 6.5 stops
- Pre-capture feature
- Maximum Framerate: 40fps (electronic shutter)
- Maximum ISO: 64,000
- Open Gate video recording support
- Price: €2,899 / $2,899 (tentative for USD)
- Shipping: Late November 2025 (tentative)
It is said that the EOS R6 Mark III is similar to the Cinema EOS C50, but the major difference between the two lies in their cooling mechanisms and video functionality. The R6 II was a fabulous camera, offering a great blend of performance, image quality, build, and weather resistance. In fact, as we said in our review, “Images are sharp, with accurate skin tones and beautiful colors. Videographers, hybrid creators, and still photographers will appreciate the Canon EOS R6 Mk II as the brand’s newest all-around workhorse. It’s excellent for portraits, landscapes, real estate, photojournalism, and street photography.” Keeping this in mind, the newer iteration has bigger shoes to fill, especially now that Nikon and Sony are doing so well.
As for the 45mm f1.2, there is no disclosure of its specs. The price, however, is reportedly around €599/$694. While these prices are tentative, there is a chance that the camera’s price may increase when it is announced, due to tariffs. Either way, the company must launch a device that is truly different if it wishes to establish a foothold. Otherwise, the buzz will fizzle out in no time.
