Unpublished Photo 2024 has published its winners, showcasing emerging photographic talent. These young photographers have depicted intense emotions and important topics, capturing tender, emotional images you won’t be able to look away from.
Highlighting the winners of UP24
The winners of this year’s Unpublished Photo contest, hosted by MUSEC in Lugano, brought us a powerful array of artistic perspectives. With submissions from 35 countries, the jury selected four projects that truly stood out:
The first prize went to Amirhosein Esparham from Iran for Together, Alone, an evocative exploration of loneliness through intimate portraits that reflect universal emotions.

The second prize was awarded to Gabriele D’Agostino of Italy for Cuore Nero-Metrò, a heartfelt mobile photography series revealing human stories and tenderness within the impersonal spaces of Milan’s metro. If I may say, this is my personal favorite – I couldn’t stop looking at these photos. So much has been said in the looks and touches Gabriele captured so masterfully.

The third prize celebrated Claudy Woods from England for Every Saint Has a Past, a series of self-portraits that reinterprets ten saints, diving into femininity, spirituality, and gender dynamics.

Navonil Dutta of India claimed fourth prize for Nature’s Drama, a dramatic portrayal of the predator-prey relationship that captures the rawness of the wild (warning: not for the faint-hearted!).

These incredible works are on display at MUSEC in Lugano until March 10, 2025. This exhibition not only highlights the winners but also serves as a platform for collectors and enthusiasts to connect with the vibrant contemporary photography scene.
