Zhiyun Teases the New Molus X100 RGB, A Compact But Powerful Light

At NAB 2025, Zhiyun gave DIYP a sneak peek of their brand new light, the Molus X100 RGB. The light was developed in collaboration with YouTuber and filmmaker Cam Mikey and will apparently be available in late April.

If you’re familiar with the original Zhiyun Molus X100, think of this as an upgraded version. It has the same core size and portability, but now has full RGB functionality and a host of redesigned accessories. It’s still compact, still powerful, but now even more customizable.

What’s New?

The standout upgrade is the addition of RGB capabilities, allowing for creative lighting in a small package. But Zhiyun didn’t just slap on RGB and call it a day. The entire accessory ecosystem has been rethought.

Instead of the standard reflector, the X100 RGB introduces what Zhiyun calls the lens reflector, which focuses light more effectively, boosts output, and keeps everything lightweight. It’s essentially a Fresnel and is paired with attachable barn doors for more precise control, giving users more flexibility in shaping the light.

Pro-Kit Features

The revamped Pro Kit includes a 40cm softbox that attaches using Zhiyun’s proprietary mount (no Bowens adapter needed), alongside a rugged, military green carrying case that adds a bit of a “cowboy” aesthetic. It also comes with a DC adapter and USB-C cable for flexible power options, whether you’re plugged into a wall or using a power bank.

The kit features the new Fresnel lens-style reflector and barn doors for better light control, a Bowens mount adapter for compatibility with third-party softboxes, and, of course, the Molus X100 RGB itself, complete with an internal battery.

The aesthetic is distinctly Cam Mikey: rugged, personality-driven, and more than just functional. According to Zhiyun, this was a true collaboration. An ongoing back-and-forth between the brand and Cam Mikey himself shaped everything from the visual design to the included accessories.
