Another year, another motivation to get new gear. Or at least, include something more handy for your alternate daily driver. If you’re after a compact camera to add to your arsenal this year, we found some recommendations for your consideration.
In the video above, River Sheppard of Tech Through The Lens shares five compact camera that he personally tested, and recommends as the best to get this year. As he noted, even if smartphones essentially rendered compact cameras obsolete, a few good ones still remain, each designed for a specific type of shooter.
Before getting to the list, he also mentioned what most users today are looking for a compact camera: pocketable, hybrid and great for everyday photography or even vlogging or content. Also, it has to be more budget-friendly and performs better than a smartphone.
So, what models best fit these parameters? He cites Sony ZV-1 Mark II, Sony RX 100 VII, Olympus Tough TG-7, Ricoh GR III and Canon G7X Mark II as the ones to look for.
