Spread the love
For several years, Sigma’s lenses have leaned into a sector of image quality that we tend to see too much of. We can blame the world of Photoshop and excessive retouching for that. It’s why so many people these days reach for retro compact digital cameras instead. But if you want to walk the line between worlds, then we’re rounding up the best filters to use on Sigma lenses. More importantly, we’re including images that we’ve shot with the lenses and of the lenses over the years. Check these out.
Spektrem Effects Lightspeed Filter: A Unique Effect
One of my absolute favorite filters to use is the Light speed filter by Spektrum Effects. When we tested it, we said that it gives your lenses new life because of the special effect that it gives to it. More importantly, it’s held in front of the lens and so it can be used with pretty much any lens that you’ve got on hand. For this reason, it’s one of the best filters to use on Sigma lenses.
“We first used it with the Leica SL2s and the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 Art DG DN lens,” we wrote. “Our reviews talk in length about how insanely clinical Sigma’s lenses. To that end, I find this one zoom lens to be incredibly boring compared to Leica’s Apochromatic lenses for the L-mount.” The final results are still some of our favorite even when looking back years later.
PrismFX GhostFX Filter: The Flash Effect

The PrismFX GhostFx filter is kind of an odd one. It’s designed to deliver both the look of a prism and a special method called second curtain flash as well as stroboscopic. And trust it, it’s not only a very large filter, but it’s also kind of difficult to use. Still, for some photographers, it’s probably easier to use than a flash. Use this filter to deliver a retro digital look to your images from a time before algorithms grabbed your photos by the happiness.
Rigu Misty Business: A Daydream

The Rigu Misty Business filter is one that seems to blend elements of Pro Mist and Glimmerglass together. When we used this filter, we were in constant awe of the images it helped us create. “In my personal experience, the mist strength has been stronger than what I’ve seen from other brands,” we state in our review. “However, it also hasn’t affected autofocus performance. Sometimes, when working with specific point light sources, that can be an issue depending on composition.” If you’re concerned about how these kinds of filters affect autofocus performance, then you’ll be pleased with this one.
Tiffen Glimmerglass Bronze: The Best

Tiffen Glimmerglass Bronze is currently one of our absolute favorite filters to use. They all the glimmer that you’re looking for while also adding a warming effect to images. This can make them feel more nostalgic but also it can make skin tones look so much better. Bronze is a lineup of filters that we recommend for more experienced photographers that know what they’re doing when it comes to using the colors in-camera.
